Aloe kedongensis from Kenya produces dense tall thickets up to 12′ tall. It is very hardy and and has an outstanding orange flower. Aloe kedongensis makes a good fire barrier when abutted against the chaparral. Also works very well to hide ugly piles, walls, or building sides. Aloe kedongensis works well as a sound barrier also.

Excellent dry border background or informal hedge or barrier planting, Aloe kedongensis is also nice in succulent, cactus and rock and xeriscape gardens. Its flowers are attractive to bees, butterflies and nectar-loving birds.

Aloe kedongensis is a medium-large sized aloe with narrow upright bright green, triangular-toothed, and somewhat recurved leaves on multiple tall, thin stems. Foliage color and density gives plant a more lush presence than many aloes.

Aloe kedongensis is a strong grower and needs some space in the garden. It is frost sensitive and damaged below 28°F, but comes back quickly from the roots. It has good-sized orange flowers stalks that appear in unbranched spikes above the tall stems from winter to spring.
