Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi is also known as ‘Lavender Scallops’ because of the shape and color of its leaves. Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi grows from branching stems. Its stems are upright at first then trailing along the ground and rooting as it goes. Kalanchoe fedtshenkoi will spread into a low shrubby succulent colony after time. Longer stems show the leaf scars after the lower leaves fall off and then grow aerial roots.
Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi leaves are glabrous, blue green colored in shade and turn light lavender green in brighter light.

Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi flowers in late winter, with the bell-shaped flower clusters held above the foliage on purple stems. The pendant flowers have sepals with a pearly sheen clasping their bases. Four flaring orange-red flower petals emerge from this base.
Because Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi easily establishes itself in the right climate it has become invasive in some subtropical areas.

A nice plant for rock and succulent garden borders that fills in around other plants. It works well as a taller ground cover in dry areas too; however, it cannot take foot traffic. Its pastel coloring makes it a nice contrast to more vibrant colored plants and an attractive house plant when grown in bright light.
