Agave americana v. medio-picta alba is a beautiful white variegated form of regular americana. Variegation runs down the center of the leaves and is really white not creamy. Plants grow to about 3′ to 4′ in diameter. Agave americana v. medio-picta alba does not flower and die possibly due to the variegation in the center inhibiting the inflorescence.
Agave americana v. medio-picta alba is a very ornamental plant with variegated leaves that are green/gray on their margins with a white stripe down the center. Agave americana v. medio-picta alba is slightly slower growing than the species. Its recurved leaves have spines on their margins and a long spine at their end. Care should be taken to locate this plant away from foot traffic. This plant is deer- and rodent-resistant. Its sap can irritate skin – so do not trim it with a chainsaw. Agave americana v. medio-picta alba will grow faster in summer with some additional irrigation.
