This is an fast-growing, low-branching succulent with fleshy, propeller-shaped leaves that start out bright lime-green and mature to bright red. It is not frost hardy and requires protection from hard frosts. In spring through summer the plant is covered in tiny white fragrant flowers.
Crassula capitella ‘Campfire’ leaves remain mostly lime-green when grown in shade. Some sun and cool weather brings out the bright red tones. When used as a ground cover this paint grows in similar fashion to larger iceplants, setting out roots at each leaf joint and scrambling across the ground.

Crassula capitella ‘Campfire’ Foliage occasionally suffers from edema which is probably due to rapid changes in watering. Occasional problems with mealybugs. Requires good drainage.

Remove spent flower clusters as desired. Cut back in fall if plants become too leggy. Benefits from monthly fertilization in spring and summer with ½ diluted low-nitrogen fertilizer.

This Crassula capitella ‘Campfire’ plant is easily propagated by taking stem cuttings. Allow them to dry and callus over for a day and then plant them in well-draining soil. It can also be grown from seed.
