Mammillaria fragilis

Horticultural Data | Shipping & Availability | Top

Mammillaria fragilis is a small, low growing cactus which clusters freely and forms flat mounds. It is a very dainty and fragile plant. Mammillaria fragilis’ dark green body is covered in short, flat, white spines, giving the whole mound a whitish appearance. The flowers are lemon-yellow in color.

Mammillaria fragilis gets its name from the way the plant breaks apart easily to form new colonies wherever the pups fall. It forms small dainty white heads which detach. Be sure to plant all the pieces as they root very easily.

This is a nice container plant. Mammillaria fragilis can be grown outside in Southern California and forms spreading flat mounds which are appropriate for cactus, succulent, rock and xeriscape gardens.

Found in the collection of Ed and Betty Gay.
