Sedum rubrotinctum

Horticultural Data | Shipping & Availability | Top

Sedum rubrotinctum is known by a number of whimsical names such as “Pork and Beans”, “Jelly Bean Plant” and “Christmas Cheer.” This succulent grows as a green succulent-leaved rosette on elongating stems from 6 to 8 inches in length. But in bright sun Sedum rubrotinctum’s leaves take on a very bright red hue. New plants may be grown from leaves (or beans) that drop off or are separated from the stem and laid on the soil. In spring, Sedum rubrotinctum produces yellow flowers tinged with red.

Sedum rubrotinctum makes an interestingly colored small-scale ground cover in xeriscape and rock gardens provided the soil is well draining. It is also a great for fitting inside tight cracks in rocks or in pots.

Sedum rubrotinctum does well in hanging baskets and is attractive for draping over walls and in containers. It’s pretty when mixed with other succulents as well.

The plant is poisonous and may cause irritation if ingested.
