Senecio pendula makes a wonderful potted specimen plant. It should be grown in rich, well-draining soil. A wide pot or hanging basket shows off the plant the best. It can be used as an interesting ground cover in frost-free areas where it takes on the appearance of a den of hibernating snakes.

This fun and unusual plant is a creeping cactus-like succulent with multi-colored white and green marbled patterned stems (which take on burgundy hues in bright sun). It grows with snaking cucumber-like stems, which arch back to the ground like caterpillars and root at the tips only to repeat the process as they grow.

Senecio pendula is a slow growing succulent. When grown indoors it needs bright light and ample airflow. In spring the plant blooms with bright orange composite flowers.

It is prone to rot if overwatered in cool weather. Keep on the dry side and use well draining but rich soils. There is a minimum purchase of any 4 plants for online orders. All plants shipped bare root. Other sizes may be available for pick up from our growing grounds in Fallbrook, CA. For more information, give us a call at 760-990-4762.
