Agave Attenuata Red Margin is a cultivar developed by Serra Gardens with parentage of Agave shawii and Agave attenuata. It is very similar in appearance to Agave "Blue Glow" but usually does not grow as a solitary rosette. Individual heads achieve an overall diameter of 30 inches. Unlike Agave "Blue Glow", A. attenuata Red Margin’s leaves develop beautiful red tones in cooler weather. In addition, each leaf is edged with a smooth and unarmed margin that glows yellow-orange when backlight by the sun. Red Margin has a clumping habit and forms mounds of multiple heads unless pups are removed. Individual rosettes have a beautiful hemispheric form. Small terminal spines can be trimmed. Deer resistant. Requires well-draining soils.
